Youth Horsemanship Partner

Humble

Background

Humble also came off a Colorado kill lot in the fall of 2021. She was part of a larger effort and found freedom with her buddy, Grain (who needs a new name!) Little is known about Humble's life before the kill pen, however, someone watched her go through auction, where she was ridden in the ring. She was sold as kid broke in that auction. During quarantine, Humble came down with strangles, and she had a terrible run with it. A strangles abcess burst in her eye and she has lost vision now in the left side. The loss doesn't seem to phase her, however.

Resident Status

Humble is extremely calm and gentle when she is with her bonded buddy, Grain. Away from him she yells for him and gets a bit nervous. As such, we strongly feel these two need to reside together.

Humble will join our Youth Horsemanship Program, and we think she will be thrilled with the extra attention. She is very loving by nature, when it comes to humans, and we look forward to letting her have even more affection.

This pretty mare is able to go into a foster home situation, with Grain. She would need to return to the rescue for our summer programs, but would make a lovely partner for the off-time. She's an easy keeper, and at 13, she is at a fabulous age.

Generally About Humble

Humble is a bright chestnut mare with a highly intelligent look in her eyes. She is not dominant and does not show "mare" behavior to other horses--in fact, she acts a lot older than she is. She is kind, considerate, and loves treats. Humble is also very camera shy and nearly impossible to get a good picture of!
